Websites + Marketing Help

Add physical products

Build your online store's inventory by adding physical products one at a time. Include detailed descriptions, prices, photos and shipping info, and assign each product to a category to make shopping simpler for your customers.

Watch the video below, which shows you how to create your online store, including adding products, product images, pricing, tax and shipping options. Then follow the steps further down to add individual products to your online store.

  1. Go to your GoDaddy product page.
  2. Scroll down, expand Websites + Marketing and select Manage next to your site.
  3. On your dashboard, expand Commerce and select Products.
  4. Select Add Product.
  5. Fill in the required product details. Fields with a * red asterisk are required (product name and price).
  6. Fill in the optional remaining fields as needed:
    • Description: Add product information manually, or select Suggest to have one auto-generated by artificial intelligence (AI). If you're using AI, select the tone and length of the description. Copy the auto-generated text if you want to paste it elsewhere, or generate a different description by selecting Show me another draft. When you're happy with the output, select Insert.
Note: Having at least one product image and a product name will help the AI generate a more accurate description.
    • Short Code: We'll generate a unique short code using your product name but you can change it if needed. This is the code that'll display on the buttons in in-person apps.
    • Product category: Adds the product to a category you've created, such as clothing, houseware or toys, so that customers can more easily find it.
    • Media: Add an image or video. Customers need to see what they’re buying, so choose your visuals well and make sure they represent your physical product correctly.
Note: You may add up to 10 images. Images must be .jpg, .jpeg, .png or .gif format, and can't exceed 10 MB each. While images can be up to 5,000 by 5,000 pixels, their maximum display will be 1,920 by 1,080 pixels.
    • Price: This is the regular price, when you don't have a sale.
    • On Sale: When this toggle is switched on, you can enter a discounted price. This price will display on your website, with the regular price crossed out.
    • Allow custom POS price: When this toggle is switched on, you can replace the listed price in your in-person app with any value.
    • URL Slug: We'll generate this for you but you can change it if needed. When you create a link that points to the product page from elsewhere, such as your marketing email, this is the descriptive part that link.
  7. To add more details or options for your product, scroll down and expand the different sections.
    • Inventory: Manage the product's unique SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) code to track your inventory and manage related invoices. We'll generate one for you using the product name, but you can change it if needed (make sure each product has a unique SKU so you can correctly identify the product).
    • Shipping: Add package shipping weight and dimensions for when you add general shipping options. To use your store's shipping settings, select Calculate with my shipping methods, otherwise you can choose to ship an item for free or specify a flat rate.
    • Identifiers: Product identifiers are unique codes that some marketplaces require for you to list your products.
    • Modifiers: Add optional services such as giftwrapping or custom text.
    • Tax category: Choose the tax category that's best for your product. If necessary, add or change tax category rates.
  8. When you're done, select Save. Your store listings are updated immediately.

After saving your product, you'll return to the Products page where you can make further changes.

  • Select Quick Edit to edit all your products at once.
  • Next to an individual product, select three horizontal dots icon more to create a social media post about the product, duplicate the product or remove it entirely. Use the checkboxes to select multiple products for removal.
