Tax-exempt status for GoDaddy customers in the United States

Note: This information is only for customers in the United States. If you're outside the U.S., see Add or update my VAT ID.

Some customers or resellers in the United States are tax-exempt. Tax exemptions are granted at the state or country level. If you have a valid tax exemption, contact a GoDaddy Guide or email salestax@godaddy.com. Your proof of tax exemption should include:

  • Your godaddy.com customer/reseller/PLID account number
  • Name of your exempt organization
  • Preferred contact information
  • A valid sales tax exemption certificate, issued by your state’s taxing authority. The certificate must include:
    • Seller information for the GoDaddy company from which the customer wishes to make sales tax-exempt purchases
    • Reason under which the customer is claiming a sales tax-exemption
    • Organization name and address, which must be complete and match those in the account
    • Valid signature
Required: A valid sales tax exemption certificate is the only documentation that qualifies you for sales tax exemption. We will not accept other documents such as IRS 501c3 determination letters, federal income tax exemptions, Articles of Incorporation, letters of non-profit status, W-9 forms, or other documents for this purpose.
