Can a deleted domain be re-purchased?

Hi,

I just purchased a domain name from GoDaddy last week. However the credit card that I used to purchase is not the one that was supposed to be used. Can I delete the domain I signed up for and then purchase it (from GoDaddy) again with a different card? That's the only issue... I need to have it paid for with a different card for licensing purposes. 🙂 Thanks!!

Hi @MUSONMOQI,

Welcome to the Community!

If you contact our support team, they can often "transfer" the registration payment to another card, then refund the transaction you first processed. Most domains, if cancelled within the first 5 days of registration, will be returned to the Registry. They will then be released for new purchase in about 72 hours. However, there is no reserving the name, or guarantee that another party may purchase first.

The domain will be locked for 60 days, I believe. Easiest thing to do is change your credit card info in Account Management.
