When I perform an nslookup on my domain dantech.xyz it produces an IP address that is registered to godaddy.
I want to use my own dns server how do I go about changing this?

When you goto https://dcc.godaddy.com/manage/dantech.xyz/dns at the bottom there is something about custom hosts - here you can put in the IP addresses of your own name servers and then you can update the name server settings to point to those.

Hi @DBirrell,
Welcome to the Community!
The answer from @PL281 is correct. You may use the instructions here to create your own host names. Then see the link at the bottom of this article to update your domain with these new nameservers.
