My email isn't sending

If your email isn’t being sent, don’t worry – we can help you fix it. The reasons why your email failed to send can vary from the recipient’s inbox being full to your email client being set up incorrectly.

Some common causes and solutions include:

Your internet connection is weak or unstable

A weak or unstable connection can prevent your email from being sent.

Solution: If you’re connected to Wi-Fi, make sure the connection is stable. If you’re using mobile data, make sure that it’s turned on and you have a strong signal.

Your firewall settings are getting in the way

Firewalls or antivirus software might block outgoing email.

Solution: Try disabling your firewall or antivirus software temporarily to see if it resolves the issue.

Note: Don’t forget to enable your firewall or antivirus software again after testing.

Your email client isn’t set up with the correct server settings

Incorrect server settings are a common cause of email sending issues.

Solution: Try sending an email from Webmail:

If the message successfully sends, but not from your local email client then make sure your client is set up with the correct server settings for Microsoft 365.

Your email bounced back with an error

If you send an email and you receive a message saying that it couldn’t be delivered to your recipient, it’s called an email bounceback. A bounceback will contain an error message explaining why it couldn’t be delivered, which could vary from using an invalid recipient email address to issues with email authentication.

Solution: If you received a bounceback error after trying to send your email, check out our article on common bouncebacks and their possible solutions.

Your email was marked as spam

Your email might’ve been marked as spam by the recipient’s spam filter, causing it not to be delivered.

Solution: Verify with the recipient whether your message was marked as spam. If it was, find out how to avoid having your emails flagged as spam.

You don’t have email authentication protocols added to your domain

SPF, DKIM and DMARC are used together to protect and authenticate your email and keep it safe from misuse by third parties.

Solution: Make sure SPF, DKIM and DMARC are set up correctly:

These protocols help authenticate your domain and prevent your email from being marked as spam.
