Using Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC)
Eligible merchants can allow customers to convert a transaction to the customer’s currency with Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC). Customers see a currency rate conversion and fee and may accept the merchant’s local currency or stay with the cardholder currency.
Required:
- This feature is currently limited to a small number of Elavon (third-party) merchants.
- Customers must pay with a Visa or MasterCard capable of processing international currencies.
- Create an order on a GoDaddy Smart Terminal.
- When a customer pays with an eligible credit card, they’ll be prompted to choose the currency directly after using the card. The transaction total will display both the USD and the cardholder’s currency, as well as applicable conversion rates.
- Have the customer select their preferred currency. If they choose to pay in their card’s currency, they will need to tap I agree on the agreement screen to confirm.
- Complete the transaction. When the customer accepts a currency conversion, the merchant-facing screen will display the original currency, and the customer-facing screen will display the cardholder's currency.
Note: The customer's receipt will display the total in USD and in the selected currency, share the current exchange rate and validate that the customer agreed to accept the presented exchange rate.
