I updated the admin email address of the domain in order to receive the authorization code to do a domain transfer. However, by updating the email address, I was put into a 60 day time period preventing me from transferring domains. Is there any way around this? My client wants his domain to be transferred ASAP.

Updating only the admin address shouldn't have locked your domain. However, if you suspect that it did, you can email email@example.com and explain your situation. That would probably be your best way forward. Hope that helps.
