Domain Unlock Timeframe

How long does it take for a domain I unlock via GoDaddy to appear as eligible for transfer on another registrar? I unlocked a domain yesterday and while it says unlocked in GoDadyy on HostGator it shows the domain is not eligible for transfer (says it is still locked).

@Domerchris HostGator probably only checks the status every day or two. Can you cancel the transfer and restart it?
