My email is going to spam
When your email is going to spam, it can be frustrating. Understanding the reasons why this might happen can help you resolve it and ensure your email reaches the intended mailbox. Some common causes and solutions include:
Your domain is missing authentication
Email authentication protocols are crucial for verifying your sender identity and establishing trust with email providers. Without it, your email may be flagged as suspicious.
Solution: Make sure SPF, DKIM and DMARC are set up correctly:
These protocols help authenticate your domain and prevent your email from being marked as spam.
The email contains misleading subject lines, excessive attachments or images, or “spammy” content.
If your email’s content appears deceptive or overly promotional, it can trigger spam filters.
Solution: Use concise and relevant subject lines that accurately reflect the email content. Avoid excessive images, exclamation points, all caps, or words commonly associated with spam (like “free,” “cheap,” “don’t wait,” “$$$”) and use a clean layout to increase readability.
The sender information is incorrect or outdated
Sending email to inactive or outdated addresses can harm your sender reputation. If the “From” name or email address doesn’t match the sender’s actual information, it can also raise suspicion.
Solution: Make sure that your sender information is accurate and up-to-date.
Your domain’s reputation is poor
If previous email from your domain has been marked as spam by recipients, it can harm your sender reputation and lead future email to be flagged.
Solution: Ask your recipients to mark your email as "Not Spam” and add your domain to their allowlist. This will train their spam filters to not flag your email.
