What is a 60 day lock?

I just updated my email, address, and removed the organization name (which doesn't exist anymore) from my contact information and am now being asked to either "Lock domain transfer for 60 days after contact information updates" or "Do not lock domain transfers after contact information updates" - I do not understand which one to do. I am just trying to update my information and my website.

Re: What is a 60 day lock?

The transfer lock isn't a GoDaddy thing it's a ICANN thing. The changes that trigger a 60 day domain lock are:

  • Registering or transferring a domain name
  • Updating the registrant contact's organization
  • Updating the registrant contact's first or last name and an organization is not listed

Read more about Transferring Domains. If you are planning not to transfer your domain name it doesn't matter wide choice you pick. If you are planning to tanner your domain then I'd just advise that you update your information when you transfer. I hope that helps?

...turns out that my two cents is worth less or more depending on the current exchange rate.
