Brand New. First site and first blog!

Hello all! I have just purchased my first domain for a food blog I will be writing called I haven't really done anything with my page yet in terms of formatting but I was so excited to get started that I posted my first blog tonight. I'm looking for some info on how to connect my page to google analytics and if Word Press has a visitor counter. I could use. Thank you in advance for anything you may assist with or if you just love food, hit my blog up!

Wow! One domain name and three compelling subjects. Best of luck with your endeavor. Google Analytics will give you a visitor counter of sorts, did you mean that you want an old school visible counter?

...turns out that my two cents is worth less or more depending on the current exchange rate.

    Hi @Maculese,

Welcome to the community and WordPress.  As a starting point, you might want to use the JetPack plugin from Automattic (WordPress founders).  It has a module to show you all sorts of stats on your dashboard.  Another EXCELLENT plugin is from Yoast.  Click here to see the plugin.

With regard to a "counter" there are not a whole lot of them around anymore.

Check out this search at --

You'll see that there are not a high number of installs from any of these type of plugins.  In today's world its more important what you know about your site visitors, than showing your visitors how many people frequent your site.  Also, keep in mind that good, quality traffic is much more important than just having people on your site.

    Hope this helps,

    Getting Started

From a blogging perspective, you really want to narrow down your topic and audience. Define who your audience is and then start writing for that audience.

To connect WordPress and Google Analytics, you need to first identify what theme you are using. Once you identify your theme, you can usually include the analytics in the theme options. There should be a place to paste the code.

If not, you can include the code in the header.php. There are tons of videos and instructions out there on how to do it.

But, let's start here--what theme are you using?

BTW if you will be running WordPress, may I suggest a WordPress Support Company. It will save you tons of headaches!
