Let me first day that I'm no Google expert but your question seems simple enough so I'll give it a shot. Google searches the Internet and if your files are in the Internet Google (and others) can and probably will see them. The real question is if your content is relevant? I can't imagine that any search engine would just start serving up results for random files on a server? That being said Google image search is rather complex so you could very well see results from images that are merely on a webserver and not connected to a website.
