Choosing a payment gateway

The first step to accepting orders on your WooCommerce site is to choose and activate a payment gateway. Activating a payment gateway will add a form to your checkout page. Customers can use that form to provide payment information. Here's what to consider when selecting a payment gateway:

Business Location - Payment processors provide service to businesses located in certain countries. If your business is located in the USA, we recommend using GoDaddy Payments which is bundled with Managed WordPress or Managed WooCommerce Stores hosting. If you aren't on one of these plans, you can install and activate the GoDaddy Payments plugin. You can use the country filter on WooCommerce's payment gateways page to search for options that are available in your country.

Cost - Payment processors often charge a percentage per transaction fee. There may also be monthly fees or flat fees per transaction. Be sure that your chosen payment processor's pricing structure suits your business needs. Percentage per transaction is standard pricing. A flat fee may be better if you sell high-priced items.

Merchant account - Consider using a gateway from the same provider if you already have a merchant account. You won't have to transfer payments between accounts that way.

Support for WooCommerce Subscriptions - Using WooCommerce Subscriptions is the best option for selling recurring fees, such as a coffee subscription or a club membership. There are a limited number of payment gateways compatible with WooCommerce Subscriptions.
