GoDaddy SmartLine is a mobile app that provides entrepreneurs with a second phone number for business use on their personal smartphone. GoDaddy Conversations is a unified inbox that helps entrepreneurs manage all of their communication channels, including calls, text messages, and social media – Facebook Messenger and Instagram. Conversations includes a channel called Business Call & Text that essentially replicates the functionality of SmartLine. Essentially, with Conversations you get all the second phone line functionality of SmartLine, along with a bonus of a unified inbox.
What is Unified Messaging?
Unified Messaging enables one platform to integrate communications from various channels into one user interface where they can be viewed, responded to and accessed without the user having to switch between multiple applications. Conversations offers a unified inbox to access all messages across key platforms like voice, text and social media like Facebook Messenger and Instagram.
What if I already have Conversations through a GoDaddy Websites + Marketing plan?
If you have an existing GoDaddy Websites + Marketing plan, you already get access to a unified inbox through Conversations. If you have a Websites + Marketing Premium, Commerce or Commerce Plus plan, you already get all the features included in the Conversations plan including a business phone number – just download the Conversations app on your phone and log in using your account to set up your number. If you have a free Websites + Marketing, Basic or Standard plan, you will need to upgrade your plan to a higher tier in order to get access to a business phone number. Can I use the app with either an iOS or Android phone?
No. Conversations is currently only available on iOS. Android app is coming soon.
Can I send text messages from my Conversations second number?
Yes, you can send and receive texts and pictures from the app, so you don’t have to disclose your personal number to customers.
How many calls and texts do I get with my subscription?
The amount included with your plan is generous, and most users don’t go above the maximum thresholds. Learn more about our fair use policy in our Conversations terms and conditions.
Can I make and receive calls from outside the U.S.?
You can receive calls from any phone number, including phone numbers outside the U.S. At this time, you can make calls to U.S. phone numbers only.
Can my second phone number be toll-free?
Yes. Toll-free numbers are available. Customers can choose the type of number that works best for their business. Conversations toll-free numbers will be priced identically to local numbers.
Can I get a “true” 1-800 number?
Yes, we offer (800) prefix toll-free numbers as well as all other toll-free prefixes – 833, 844, 855, 866, 877, and 888.
Can I use my current number with the Conversations app?
Can I send text messages from my Conversations toll-free number?
Yes, you can send and receive texts, and it also includes MMS messages (e.g. pictures & video).
Can I get a second phone number for personal use?
Does Conversations use my phone plan’s minutes?
No. Conversations uses an internet connection to transmit calls and texts and therefore only uses your wifi or cellular data connection.
Is VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) phone service available?
Yes. Conversations enables VoIP service through your phone. If your phone is connected to wifi, Conversations will use your wifi connection. If your phone is not connected to wifi, Conversations will use your cellular data connection. If you have neither a cellular nor wifi data connection, you will not be able to use Conversations.
