Tried to edit an index.html file and I think I messed up

Hello,

I was trying to do a good deed and help my garden club update its website to include the new dates for this year's garden walk. We had someone with experience create and update our site for the past few years, but he is not available.  I have ZERO experience but nobody would help us . . . and with all the icky stuff happening in the world, we really want to have our garden walk happen this year. . . so I (foolishly) decided to try and figure it out. I found the "index.html" file and successfully edited it (and saved it). But, when I try to go to our website to see the changes, I get the "future home of something quite cool" message with log in options for the site owner (and when I log in, it just takes me to the cpanel dashboard on godaddy).  I have spent hours trying to fix this and I have NO IDEA what to do. Can someone help?  Our domain name is registered with godaddy, and we have the web hosting package economy Linux with CPANEL. Please help.  Thank you.
