How does an LLC help you?

Here are some key ways an LLC protects you and your business, with ZenBusiness ready to help at every step.

  1. An LLC can help separate and protect your personal assets.
  2. Business functions, such as payroll, taxes, and insurance, stay under your business.
  3. Any contracts you enter into are from your LLC, not you personally.
  4. Banks know you’re a legitimate business, which can help when you seek funding.
  5. You look professional, and vendors / marketplaces may require it.

LLC Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to register an LLC?

Filing is free plus state fees, which vary by state.

How long does it take to create an LLC with GoDaddy?

The time it takes to form an LLC depends largely on how fast your state’s Secretary of State processes the paperwork, which varies widely by state and time of year. While we can’t control the state’s filing speeds, ZenBusiness can control how fast they process filings. The process typically takes 5-7 business days, but they provide a rush filing option that can reduce the process to 1 business day. Processing times are based on receiving complete information.

Why should I use GoDaddy's LLC formation services?

We're partnering with ZenBusiness, who’ve helped over 850,000 businesses form their LLC quickly and confidently. Customers can expect fast filing, registered agent and compliance support, and the convenience of managing their LLC alongside everything else they use GoDaddy for— domain, website, email, etc.

What do I need to get started?

To file your LLC, you will need:
  • Desired business name
  • First and Last Name
  • Street Address
  • Email and Phone Number
  • Payment Method

Can I set up an LLC in any state? Which state should I choose?

Yes, you can form an LLC in any state. Just keep in mind that each state has its own filing and maintenance requirements. You’ll also need a physical address in the state (not a PO box), which is typically handled by a Registered Agent.

Do I need a lawyer to start an LLC?

A lawyer is not necessary to form an LLC.

What is a registered agent, and do I need one?

A Registered Agent is a person or company designated to receive legal and tax documents on behalf of an LLC. Every state requires one. If someone doesn't have a physical address in the state where they're forming your LLC, most formation services (i.e., ZenBusiness) will provide a Registered Agent. Also, some people choose to hire a Registered Agent even if they live in the state where their business is registered. It allows them to keep their personal address private, maintain a separate official address for legal documents, and get help staying compliant with state requirements.
