For many shoppers, a potential purchase begins with an online search. To make sure that your store appears high up in search results, build a list of seasonal or holiday-themed keywords that fit your store’s niche. Then create new content that features those keywords.

Keyword-rich blog posts, images, videos and infographics can attract shoppers’ attention.

Just make sure a) each piece of content includes a link to your web store and b) you publish your content at least six months in advance so that search engines can crawl, index and rank it before the holiday shopping season begins.

2. Get some fresh customer reviews

What’s the one place online shoppers tend to check before checking out? Your reviews. This is why it makes sense to encourage your customers to review you on major business listings such as:

Getting reviews is as easy as including a link to the Write a review section of your Google listing on every invoice with a request the client rate your service. You could also simply email this link to customers you know are happy with your products or services.

Even better? Make sure that you’re getting reviews for the products and/or services that you’ll be promoting during the holidays.

3. Start a referral program

The holidays are a perfect time to show appreciation and referral programs are a great way to do that.

There’s nothing worse than going through all the steps to purchase a product, only to find out it won’t arrive in time for the holidays. 5. Recapture those abandoned carts

You don’t need to do a complete overhaul or make everything red and green. Small changes can help keep your brand relevant and catch people’s attention. 9. Use retargeting ads on Facebook
