At GoDaddy, we believe everyone has the right to make their own way. For too many people, a lack of access to funding and training ends with lost opportunities. To fulfill our mission of making entrepreneurship inclusive for all, we're providing resources and a spotlight. Thank you to the sponsors behind each season.
Empower by GoDaddy exists because we believe that everyone has the right to make their own way. Since 2017, the philanthropic program has broken down barriers for entrepreneurs in underserved communities so that they can access the training, tools and peer networks they need to accelerate their small business journeys.
We partner with leading nonprofits to provide community-based programs and GoDaddy volunteers. Empower boosts the skills and knowledge of entrepreneurs through customized learning experiences, networking and GoDaddy mentors and coaches, so that they can bolster their small business’ digital presence and gain other critical business skills. Through Empower, we seek to strengthen underserved communities through the power of small business.
Since 1997, The Georgia Micro Enterprise Network has provided resources and support for micro businesses in the state of Georgia, helping entrepreneurs follow their dreams and bolstering the economy both locally and beyond. By helping and funding aspiring entrepreneurs, especially disadvantaged and under-served ones,
GMEN is creating new jobs and opportunities as well as fostering an environment of community, collaboration, and empowerment.
Communities Unlimited (CU) is a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) serving persistently poor counties across seven southern U.S. states that include a large percentage of African Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans. CU works side-by-side with local leaders to create fair access to resources needed to sustain healthy communities, healthy businesses and healthy families.
CU connects people to solutions. In their work with entrepreneurs, they accomplish this by facilitating workshop trainings, providing one-on-one, intensive problem-solving and management consulting and start-up and working capital loans. Cynthia Norwood Terry, JD, MBA, the Director of Entrepreneurship for CU, leads her team in developing partner relationships and delivering consulting services to entrepreneurs across their service areas.
GoDaddy partners with the Association of Enterprise Opportunity (AEO) to scale Empower nationally in order to reach and support more entrepreneurs. AEO is a nonprofit representing a network of more than 1,700 members and partner organizations that provide capital and services to assist underserved entrepreneurs in starting, stabilizing and expanding their businesses.
AEO seeks to change the way capital and services flow to underserved entrepreneurs so that jobs and opportunities can be created for all. Connie Evans, President and CEO, is driving AEO’s vision forward to create healthy communities through business ownership for under-represented groups.
