Enable credit surcharging in GoDaddy Payments

The credit surcharge program allows you to pass on processing fees to your customers by adding an additional fee to the total transaction amount when your customer pays in person with a credit card.

Note: The Point of Sale Plus plan is required to set up credit surcharging for your GoDaddy Payments account, and includes a range of additional features such as lower transaction fees, unlimited SKUs and inventory management on your POS device, and more.
Warning: Before enabling surcharging, you must read the surcharging guide thoroughly. Several US states and territories have rules and regulations regarding surcharging, as outlined in the surcharging guide. You are responsible for reviewing, understanding and complying with surcharging rules and regulations. GoDaddy bears no liability regarding your compliance with these rules. Consult your local counsel if you have further questions regarding these regulations.
  1. Go to the Dashboard where you manage your GoDaddy Payments account (use your GoDaddy username and password).
  2. Select Settings from the left-nav, then select Payments.
  3. Select Fees from the top-nav.
  4. Turn on the Enable Surcharge toggle.
  5. In the Percentage Value field, enter the surcharge percentage. Note that this value cannot exceed three percent.
  6. Select Save.
  7. If you have multiple stores you want to enable credit surcharging for, you will need to repeat this process for each store.
Note: The credit surcharge program is currently only available to customers who have a GoDaddy smart terminal. It is not currently available on other payment methods such as Online Pay Links, Online Store or Virtual Terminal.
  1. After enabling credit surcharging, create an order on a GoDaddy smart terminal.
  2. When processing a credit card payment (either with the physical card or manually entering card info), customers will be notified of the surcharge fee during checkout and on the receipt.
