What is the Liquidation Auction Event?
Domain investing has been around for over three decades now, long enough that a number of early investors are starting to look at downsizing their portfolios or exiting the industry.
Selling a portfolio isn’t as simple as listing a few names and waiting for retail buyers. The market has long supported individual domain sales, and some large buyers may acquire parts of a portfolio privately, but there are no meaningful, structured ways to bring a larger group of reduced-price names in front of active investors at once.
That’s the problem we’re solving with the Liquidation Auction Event: a focused format that helps downsizing sellers bring portfolio inventory to market, while giving buyers a concentrated window to evaluate and bid on reduced-price opportunities.
As we test this event format, we’re partnering with downsizing third-party sellers who are bringing reduced-price inventory to the market. We’re also including a quantity of NameFind domain names to support this experimentation.
The Liquidation Auction Event looks at solving a different problem than our Premium Auction Event category, which itself will return later this year with a range of top domains.
