Hi, I’m Courtney Robertson, the new Web Designer & Developer Advocate. I joined the GoDaddy Pro Field Marketing team officially on June 1.
My background & about me
I have a background in WordPress and teaching that are nearly inseparable. I first found open-source in 2005 when I needed a learning management system in my classroom. Soon I had a Moodle server up and running, and a new blog on Joomla.
Fast forward six months and I opted to use WordPress instead. At the time I was teaching high school business education, including Microsoft Office and HTML/CSS.
I took some time away from the classroom to teach adult education and corporate training opportunities while also working as a solo web developer. I found ManageWP and joined the WordPress Training Team in 2014. I’ve since served as the WordPress.org Training Team co-rep for three years.
After some time with my young children, I coordinated cross-team release communications and knowledgebase management for The Events Calendar plugin by Modern Tribe. I have such a fondness for my time spent learning how a plugin and website agency work, helping communicate the important changes from the minds of developers into the details that clients needed to know.
I then moved into teaching WordPress website development at a bootcamp and the markup/languages that work together under the hood.
Outside of WordPress and teaching, I find myself digging in my very large vegetable garden, learning to play a 7 string electric violin (I play acoustic traditional violin and mandolin), and enjoying life near Gettysburg PA USA.
Why I joined the GoDaddy Pro team
Helping folks at all skill levels achieve their goals is my passion professionally. Over the past few years, I’ve seen that same passion for uplifting others coming from the GoDaddy and GoDaddy Pro teams.
Their commitment to the WordPress community and web designers and developers is easy to spot.
Whether it’s through contributing to the Make.WordPress.org teams, sponsoring WordCamps, or through the content and speakers they present at their weekly GoDaddy Pro Meetups, it’s clear that our passions align. I am so excited to be a part of the GoDaddy Pro brand team and continue to share my knowledge and experience.
I joined the GoDaddy Pro team to work with peers who excel at connecting folks to the resources they need to succeed. I thrive with teamwork and am passionate about all forms of training others.
Let’s connect!
You may see me online under my maiden name “Courtney Engle” in a few places. I’d sure love for my current name to fit the social media size limits, or the domain name to be available. You can find me online at my website, and on Twitter and LinkedIn
